Uncle Matt meets Callie Jean

Matt had the opportunity to travel to Colorado this last weekend to meet our sweet niece, Callie Jean.  He came back smitten with the girl and with fun stories and pictures. I am looking forward to meeting her soon, but in the meantime I'll just have to enjoy the photos.  Hope you like them too!

The 30 days of 30 begins

There is something Matt and I are really NOT good at.
Can you guess?
I'll just tell you - we cannot keep secrets!

I think this is actually a good thing, but when it comes to giving gifts to each other we are horrible!  We usually give presents WAY before the actual event because we just get so excited and have a hard time keeping a secret.  So this has been a huge challenge for me!  I have had to keep this secret since January when I brainstormed this little idea and spent the next few months shopping and scheming!

So here is what has been happening at the Poladian house.  Our anniversary on Friday was not only the beginning of year 6 in our marriage, but it also happened to be 30 days before Matt will turn 30. So I have been collecting little gifts and planning small events to spend the next month honoring my amazing and wonderful husband.  He has a gift to open each day and some events on the calendar.  I am really excited to celebrate at each of these events with smaller groups of people.  Much more manageable to plan small events than a big birthday shindig for this 8 month preggo mama.  He will find out what the event is and who is included in it on the day of the event...so if you are participating in one of those events it's hush hush until the day of!

So in the next 30 days if you feel so inclined - send my hubs a happy birthday message!

Enjoy the photos below.  They are the revealing of the plan and gift number 1, his favorite chocolates from Sees.

5 years ago today

Matthew...just waiting

almost

the official symbol of our love and devotion

Mr & Mrs

We couldn't be happier... then and now

I remember on our wedding day experiencing a feeling of excitement for the day we would celebrate 5 years together.  I don't know why.. a milestone I guess...you would think I would just be excited about getting married. And believe me - I was! It just stood out in my mind as a big event and with great anticipation I looked forward to it.  I didn't even think that we would be in the final stretch of our first pregnancy as we reached the 5 year mark, evidence of the Lord blessing us beyond what we could ever hope or imagine.  So we have arrived at the day I looked forward to years ago... and yes it has been all I hoped it would be and more.

We are abundantly blessed and thankful to the Lord for his loving kindness in bringing us together as husband and wife.  We have walked through the fire, shouted good news from the mountain tops, huddled together in the valleys and enjoyed calm waters.  Through it all we clung to each other and our great God and can't believe how He used it all to grow and change us in the past 5 years.

"Then the LORD God said, "It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him." Gen 2:18

What a great idea!
