3 Years Old

Our marriage is three years old next month, but we decided to get away early while the quarter was still "slow."  The quarter is never slow, but 2 weeks in is slower than 6 weeks in..so we took our opportunity and ran with it.

We started out by driving up to Oak Park on Wednesday and I got a facial..so wonderful!!  We had dinner with the Coopers and went right to bed knowing we had a lot of driving ahead of us.  Plus, the power went out that evening--have you ever considered how little there is to do after 10:00 with no electricity?

After a quick jog on Thursday morning, we drove up to Half Moon Bay - a piece of heaven!!  We enjoyed smores, a walk along the cliff with the crashing waves below, sunshine, a fire pit, a tasty dinner and a cute movie.

Friday we drove again! This time we landed in Palo Alto and Cupertino.  We saw the headquarters of Apple, cheered on UCI at the Challenge 4 Charity competition hosted by Stanford's business school, walked around at a cute mall, strolled the streets of downtown Palo Alto, rooted for Corgan (Matt's cousin) at his baseball game and tried to go for a long run (not very successful when you don't know the area too well).

After that we drove down to Carmel and enjoyed a lovely breakfast with goal setting for the next year.

As we headed back south, we took the long, winding road along the coast toward Cambria.  We saw sea lions sunbathing, lots of beautful rocks and cliffs and enjoyed a delicious tri-tip snadwich.  Our final destination was Woodland Hills for dinner with the Poladians.  Whew.... over 800 miles of driving.  We had a lot of time for talking and reflecting.  I was so thankful to have 4 days with Matthew!  Enjoy the pictures below (in no particular order!)

Happy Birthday Sister Dear!!!

My BIG sister turned 30 years old this past weekend.  She is not really very big - which always make me laugh to say it.  I am the big sister when you think about size.  She does have a big heart though..bigger than mine.  She is able to love with great capacity and has a heart to reach those who don't know our Lord and Savior.  She has a boldness I pray for and the ability to connect with people.  She is fun to be with and has a fabulous sense of style.  She can do hair and make-up like nobodies business and will knock your socks of with meals she makes.  She will give you her time willingly and strives to be a Godly woman and wife.  I love you sister and wish you much joy in the year of 30.  I am certain blessings will abound.

Give a comment if you love Melissa as much as I do!!
